Ok, folks out there in internet land, concerned teachers and disillusioned audience-my blog posts of late have been a little cynical. I have been kind of befuddled in this never ending overcast rainstorm you in BC call winter and I call “purgatory” with ammenities. But don’t lose faith, It’s just the SAD (“seasonal affective syndrome” or “serious attitude deficiency” whichever you prefer).
I have been noticing through some of my academic courses (cultural theory and natural sciences), that we have been taking in a number of TED talks on youtube which are relevant to the lectures at hand. I have been captivated by these talks and am amazed that this is not a channel or a primetime show. Y aknow something like, “this sunday, tune in to TED talks TV for new ideas that are shaping our world”. That would be better than American Idol (lame).
I have added this channel on youtube to my own CHANNEL ZER0, and I try to take in one or two talks a day (it is starting to replace reading before beddy byes). I encourage people to try and catch some of these talks because they can really add to a persons optimism about the state of the world as it is right now-on the brink of massive change. It is things like TED talks that continue to make me think we are are the brink of a second renaissance (apparently renaissance means legen or legendary). My favourite TED Talk so far is 12 ways biomimicry can improve design. Until next time, stay out of the rain and eat plain potato chips-vitamin D abounds and it fights the SAD.
