So, did any body else have fun getting up at 7 AM to register for the spring semester. I sure as hell did (sarcasm). I am putting in a lot of extra time anyway as ceramics is a time consuming practice. But competing against other anonymous students for a seat in the class that makes your education what you want and what you are paying for is just BULLSHIT! And I will tell you why.
Not every student has a personal computer ( I am fortunate that I do, which is to say I got into 3 of the 5 courses I need). Imagine being the student that couldn’t even compete in the freezing server mess of timed out messages that contradict themselves-this course is full, please add to waitlist-then-this course is open, please register-repeat…ARRRRGGGHHH!!! You can’t even physically come here and compete with those students who can afford a computer can you? Is student services open that early-no!
Now, let’s say that you do have a computer. Who has the fastest computer-whose mommy and daddy got them the compuetr to match the god-damned Lexus they got for turning 16. Guess they would get to the finish line first-guess they would have priority. That is of course, unless this institution’s server freezes and leaves you unable to abort your actions of academic conquest, while others fill in the cracks you will end up falling through.
Well you know what-I didn’t come to this university to commit financial suicide, only to have to choose to take courses I didn’t want or to wait till next year…next time…oh, I finally got the best computer!!! Thanks Mommy and daddy (mine are dead, and I pay my own way). I chose the course-load I needed to cover the mandatory courses required for graduation, to allow for optimal scheduling throughout a week (something that has left me spinning this semester and barley able to work enough to almost afford to survive, let alone actually live the “dream” of going to an art school as prestigious as Emily Carr ((sarcasm)) ). With the days I had planned out, I woould have been able to work enough to pay my rent (only my rent and little else) and still be able to almost get 6 hours of sleep a night/7 days a week).
In conclusion, take your online registry and insert it into your USB port (metaphor). If I don’t get into the courses I came here to take, you don’t get my money, you don’t get my time, you don’t get away with robbing another student-So many people told me that I was lucky to go to Emily Carr-lucky to experience such an innovative and exceptional school-I don’t feel it EC-I am paying too much of my life to be swindled-YOU NEED A BETTER WAY TO REGISTER FOR COURSES AT THIS SCHOOL-anybody feel that-gimme a response, and I will take it right to the dean.

I definitely agree — it’s like we’re trying to buy tickets online. Except these tickets cost thousands of dollars and whatever seats we get affect our lives. :\
Although this system is really inefficient with that I think the problem is more so the availability of the courses themselves. Have more classes for the popular ones, and vice versa. They need to take into account that even if you try giving a good sales pitch, not everyone wants to go into integrated design! DX
